Subsea Hydro Turbine Design

The illustration shows one of several configurations of a G&J Wave Energy design which utilizes a set of subsea pulley assemblies, a buoy, cable drum assembly, tensioning apparatus, interconnecting subsea cables, and a vertically oriented hydro kinetic turbine. The inclusion of the set of subsea pulleys and tensioning apparatus, can provide the flow velocities sufficient to effectively power a hydro kinetic turbine and generator.

In the configuration illustrated, the subsea hydro turbine and generator travels in the opposite vertical direction of the buoy.

Implementations of hydro kinetic turbines within this invention, utilize a single rotation, bi-directional flow turbine. Voids in the turbine casing provide buoyancy which works in corporation with the interconnecting subsea cables and tensioner to provide upward velocity during the second half of a wave period.
